Karuṇāsītalahadayaṃ, paññāpajjotavihatamohatamaṃ;
Whose heart is cool with compassion, whose darkness of delusion is dispelled by the light of wisdom;

Sanarāmaralokagaruṃ, vande sugataṃ gativimuttaṃ.
The teacher of the world with its humans, devas and gods, I pay homage to the Sugata, who is freed from destinies.
Là bậc Thầy của thế gian cùng chư thiên và nhân loại, con xin đảnh lễ đấng Thiện Thệ, bậc đã giải thoát khỏi các sanh thú.

Buddhopi buddhabhāvaṃ, bhāvetvā ceva sacchikatvā ca;
Even the Buddha, having developed and realized the state of Buddhahood,
Đức Phật, sau khi đã tu tập và chứng ngộ Phật quả;

Yaṃ upagato gatamalaṃ, vande tamanuttaraṃ dhammaṃ.
attained that which is free from defilements; I pay homage to that unsurpassable Dhamma.

Sugatassa orasānaṃ, puttānaṃ mārasenamathanānaṃ;
Of the Sugata’s true-born sons, who crush the armies of Māra;
Là những người con đích thực của đấng Thiện Thệ, những vị đã nhiếp phục ma quân;

Aṭṭhannampi samūhaṃ, sirasā vande ariyasaṅghaṃ.
the community of the eight, the Ariya Saṅgha, I pay homage to with my head.
Con xin cúi đầu đảnh lễ tập thể của tám bậc, chính là Thánh Tăng.

Iti me pasannamatino, ratanattayavandanāmayaṃ puññaṃ;
Thus, for me of devoted mind, this merit consisting of veneration for the Triple Gem,
Như vậy, với tâm ý trong sáng, phước báu phát sinh từ việc đảnh lễ Tam Bảo của con;

Yaṃ suvihatantarāyo, hutvā tassānubhāvena.
having become one whose obstacles are well-removed by its power,
Nhờ oai lực của phước báu ấy, mong rằng mọi chướng ngại đều được tiêu trừ.

Dīghassa dīghasuttaṅkitassa, nipuṇassa āgamavarassa;
Of the Dīgha, marked by long suttas, of the profound, excellent collection of texts;
Của Trường Bộ, được ghi dấu bằng những kinh dài, của Thánh Điển cao quý, tinh vi;

Buddhānubuddhasaṃvaṇṇitassa, saddhāvahaguṇassa.
extolled by the Buddhas and their disciples, having qualities that inspire faith.

Atthappakāsanatthaṃ, aṭṭhakathā ādito vasisatehi;

was then brought to the island of Sīhaḷa by the master, the great Mahinda,

Tattha dīghāgamo nāma sīlakkhandhavaggo, mahāvaggo, pāthikavaggoti vaggato tivaggo hoti; suttato catuttiṃsasuttasaṅgaho.
Therein, the Dīgha Āgama consists of three divisions by way of sections: the Sīlakkhandhavagga, the Mahāvagga, and the Pāthikavagga; it is a collection of thirty-four suttas by way of discourses.
Trong đó, Trường Bộ Kinh (Dīghāgama) được chia thành ba phẩm theo phẩm: Phẩm Giới Uẩn, Phẩm Lớn, và Phẩm Pāthika; và bao gồm ba mươi bốn kinh theo kinh.
Tassa vaggesu sīlakkhandhavaggo ādi, suttesu brahmajālaṃ. Brahmajālassāpi ‘‘evaṃ me suta’’ntiādikaṃ āyasmatā ānandena paṭhamamahāsaṅgītikāle vuttaṃ nidānamādi.
Of these sections, the Sīlakkhandhavagga is the first; of the suttas, the Brahmajāla. And of the Brahmajāla, the introduction beginning “Thus have I heard,” spoken by the venerable Ānanda at the time of the First Great Council, is the beginning.
Trong các phẩm ấy, Phẩm Giới Uẩn (Sīlakkhandhavaggo) là phẩm đầu tiên, và trong các kinh, kinh Brahmajāla là kinh đầu tiên. Phần mở đầu của kinh Brahmajāla là phần dẫn nhập bắt đầu bằng câu “evaṃ me sutaṃ” (Tôi nghe như vầy), do Trưởng lão Ānanda đọc tụng vào thời điểm kết tập lần thứ nhất.
