Karuṇāsītalahadayaṃ, paññāpajjotavihatamohatamaṃ;
Whose heart is cool with compassion, who has dispelled the darkness of delusion with the lamp of wisdom;
Với trái tim mát mẻ từ bi, với màn si mê dày đặc bị xua tan bởi ánh sáng trí tuệ;

Sanarāmaralokagaruṃ, vande sugataṃ gativimuttaṃ.
The teacher of the world with its humans and devas, liberated from the destinies, I venerate the Sugata.
Bậc Thầy của thế giới chư thiên và nhân loại, đã thoát khỏi các nẻo luân hồi, tôi xin đảnh lễ Đức Thiện Thệ.

Buddhopi buddhabhāvaṃ, bhāvetvā ceva sacchikatvā ca;
The Buddha too, having developed and realized the state of Buddhahood,
Đức Phật đã tu tập và chứng ngộ Phật tính;

Yaṃ upagato gatamalaṃ, vande tamanuttaraṃ dhammaṃ.
attained that which is free from defilement; I venerate that supreme Dhamma.
Tôi xin đảnh lễ Dhamma vô thượng, thanh tịnh, mà Ngài đã đạt đến.

Sugatassa orasānaṃ, puttānaṃ mārasenamathanānaṃ;
Of the Sugata's true-born sons, who have crushed the army of Māra;
Tôi xin cúi đầu đảnh lễ Tăng đoàn Thánh nhân, gồm tám bậc, là những người con chính thống của Đức Thiện Thệ, đã nghiền nát quân ma.

Aṭṭhannampi samūhaṃ, sirasā vande ariyasaṅghaṃ.
the community of those eight, the Noble Saṅgha, I venerate with my head.
Con xin cung kính đảnh lễ Tăng đoàn Thánh chúng gồm tám bậc.

Iti me pasannamatino, ratanattayavandanāmayaṃ puññaṃ;
Thus, for me of devoted mind, is the merit consisting of veneration for the Triple Gem;
Nguyện cho công đức từ sự đảnh lễ Tam Bảo này của tôi, với tâm trong sạch,

Yaṃ suvihatantarāyo, hutvā tassānubhāvena.
may I, through its power, be one whose obstacles are completely removed.
Nhờ năng lực ấy, mọi chướng ngại sẽ được tiêu trừ.

Majjhimapamāṇasuttaṅkitassa idha majjhimāgamavarassa;
Here, of the excellent Majjhima Āgama, marked by suttas of middle length,
Để làm sáng tỏ ý nghĩa của bộ A-hàm Trung Bộ cao quý này, được đánh dấu bằng các kinh có độ dài trung bình,

Buddhānubuddhasaṃvaṇṇitassa paravādamathanassa.
extolled by the Buddhas and their disciples, which crushes the doctrines of others;
Được chư Phật và các bậc giác ngộ tán thán, và có khả năng phá tan các tà thuyết khác.

Atthappakāsanatthaṃ, aṭṭhakathā ādito vasisatehi;
for the purpose of explaining the meaning, the commentary which was recited from the beginning by the five hundred masters,
Chú giải này, ban đầu được năm trăm vị ẩn sĩ kết tập,

Pañcahi yā saṅgītā, anusaṅgītā ca pacchāpi.
and was recited again afterwards.
Và sau đó cũng được tái kết tập.

Sīhaḷadīpaṃ pana ābhatātha vasinā mahāmahindena;
Having then been brought to the island of Sīhaḷa by the master, the great Mahinda,

Ṭhapitā sīhaḷabhāsāya, dīpavāsīnamatthāya.
it was established in the Sīhaḷa language for the benefit of the island's inhabitants.

Apanetvāna tatohaṃ, sīhaḷabhāsaṃ manoramaṃ bhāsaṃ;
Removing from it the Sīhaḷa language, a delightful language,

Tantinayānucchavikaṃ, āropento vigatadosaṃ.
I am rendering it, which is in accordance with the canonical method and is without fault.

Samayaṃ avilomento, therānaṃ theravaṃsadīpānaṃ;
Not contradicting the doctrine of the elders, the lamps of the lineage of elders,

Sunipuṇavinicchayānaṃ, mahāvihāre nivāsīnaṃ.
of most subtle judgment, who reside in the Mahāvihāra.

Hitvā punappunāgatamatthaṃ, atthaṃ pakāsayissāmi;
Having omitted the meaning that has come again and again, I will explain the meaning,

Sujanassa ca tuṭṭhatthaṃ, ciraṭṭhitatthañca dhammassa.
for the delight of good people and for the long-standing of the Dhamma.

Sīlakathā dhutadhammā, kammaṭṭhānāni ceva sabbāni;
The discourse on virtue, the ascetic practices, and all the meditation subjects;

Cariyāvidhānasahito, jhānasamāpattivitthāro.
the detailed explanation of jhāna and samāpatti, along with the method of conduct.

Sabbā ca abhiññāyo, paññāsaṅkalananicchayo ceva;
All the supernormal knowledges, and the determination of the collection of wisdom;

the aggregates, elements, sense bases, faculties, and the four Noble

Truths, the exposition of the causal structure with its pure and subtle method,

the path of the unbroken canon, and the development of insight meditation.
Con đường kinh điển không rời, và sự tu tập thiền quán.

Iti pana sabbaṃ yasmā, visuddhimagge mayā suparisuddhaṃ;
Since all this has been stated by me with great purity in the Visuddhimagga,
Vì tất cả những điều này đã được tôi trình bày một cách rất thanh tịnh trong Thanh Tịnh Đạo;

Vuttaṃ tasmā bhiyyo, na taṃ idha vicārayissāmi.
therefore, I will not investigate it further here.

‘‘Majjhe visuddhimaggo, esa catunnampi āgamānañhi;
“This Visuddhimagga, standing in the midst of all four Āgamas,

Ṭhatvā pakāsayissati, tattha yathābhāsitamatthaṃ’’.
will explain the meaning as it was spoken therein.”

Icceva kato tasmā, tampi gahetvāna saddhimetāya;
Because it was thus made, therefore, taking it together with this
Vì đã được biên soạn như vậy, nên các vị thiện hữu hãy dựa vào đó và cùng với chú giải này,

Aṭṭhakathāya vijānatha, majjhimasaṅgītiyā atthanti.
commentary, you should understand the meaning of the Majjhima Saṅgīti.
