She gave birth to the handsome Prince Mahinda in Ujjenī.

And having heard the virtues of the Three Jewels, he should know them from afar.

He will ascend Missaka mountain on the Uposatha day of Jeṭṭha month;

At that very time, we will go to the excellent island of Laṅkā."

"Go to Laṅkā to convert it, for you have been foretold by the Sambuddha.

Therefore, that one of great psychic power ascended into the sky from the vihāra.

In an instant, he arrived here, on the delightful Missaka mountain,

Laṃkāya satthusadiso hitahetu tassā;
honored by the devas of Laṅkā, sat down there indeed.
